​Founded in 2016 by Cecilia Chia, Glass Rice is a contemporary art gallery in San Francisco committed to championing emerging and established artists from the Bay Area and beyond. Since its inception, the gallery has fostered long-term relationships with artists through a program rooted in artistic vitality, experimentation, and vision, with an emphasis on practices that are materially driven, emotionally resonant, and conceptually expansive.

In 2024, the gallery expanded with Strip Mall, a concept shop dedicated to one-of-a-kind, small-batch, and bespoke works by experimental artists and independent creatives. Extending the gallery’s broader interests, Strip Mall foregrounds tactility, process, and the singular qualities of handmade work.

Rooted in San Francisco, Glass Rice remains committed to supporting the depth and diversity of its local artistic community while situating its artists within a broader contemporary context.
