Group Exhibition: I’m So Happy You Are Here

Glass Rice is proud to present I'm So Happy You Are Here a group exhibition marking the gallery's tenth anniversary. The show brings together eleven artists — Christopher M. Tandy, Adrian Kay Wong, Maya Fuji, Michelle Favin, Maja Dlugolecki, Alyssa Mariah Aviles, Caroline Pinney, Nico Corona, Matthew Walton, Angela Zirbes, and Anatole Heger — artists who've shaped our program alongside new talent we’re excited to introduce. The work in this exhibition spans eleven distinct visual languages, with each artist metabolizing time differently, whether as memory, as belonging, or as occasion for celebration.
Glass Rice first opened in the Design District of San Francisco in 2016 and moved to our current location on Sutter Street in 2020. Over the past ten years the gallery has mounted close to eighty exhibitions, building a program around artists working across painting, sculpture, textile, photography, installation, and film, and expanding in 2023 with the launch of Strip Mall, a concept retail space dedicated to one-of-a-kind, small-batch, and bespoke works by experimental artists and independent makers. I'm So Happy You Are Here gathers a cross-section of that history by highlighting some of the artists who've been integral to the gallery's program alongside new voices who are shaping where it will go next.
The exhibition's title is a testament to the ten years it took to get here, and to the people who made staying open worth it. It honors the artists who trusted the gallery early, the visitors who continued to return, and the people of the Bay Area who made our gallery feel like an extension of home.
