SJÁ is an on-going, episodic, multi-disciplinary project that explores human perceptions and realities. Taking its name from Old Norse, SJÁ literally translates into “sight.”
The project formalizes a collaboration between Christopher M Tandy and Evan Meyer. Since 2017 the two have been collaborating on “sonic fingerprints” for Tandy’s drawings and site specific installations.
GHØSTS incorporates Super 8 film footage from the first chapter of SJÁ, where the artist performed rituals appearing as the Raven alongside Meyer’s live score. Combining footage from these past rituals together with otherworldly found footage and personal footage, Tandy builds a foundation for a ghostly realm that is mesmerizing and beautiful in it’s darkness.
The film presented here is one part of a two channel immersive film installation and will only be available for viewing through October 31 2020.
